Sunset Elopement At Kawela Bay, North Shore, Oahu

Kawela Bay on Oahu's North Shore is a prime wedding destination, perfect for small personal weddings, elopements and engagement shoots. It has been the backdrop for some big Hollywood blockbusters, including LOST, Pirates Of the Carribean, Hawaii 5-0 to name a few.

Dominique and Sean flew all the way from New York for their elopement. A fun, relaxed couple they kept her dress hidden from the groom and had him blind folded all the way from their hotel in Waikiki, over an hours drive away.

Sean trusted Dominique to lead him down to the waters edge still blindfolded, once the groom was safely in the hands of our officiant I whisked her away to take advantage of this amazing light coming through trees. Not my usual protocol but we couldn't waste a good opportunity. I'm sure you will agree it was well worth it! Dominique and Sean were such a cute couple, super fun and relaxed, just a perfect match for each other.

Kawela Bay is so unique, firstly its kind of hard to find but thanks to social media its become a little easier but still doesn’t get super busy which is a blessing for sure. The combination of forest and beach is very unique and gives the photos two completely different looks. The light here is just perfect and with the right timing as with this couple, you can see how it just provides the perfect backlight halo to our beautiful couples.
